If you are ever down this way, I would recommend that you avoid Grand Shores West. Yes, I am picky, but, oh well, I am at the beach. We are about to join our friends, Howard & Starr Armstrong on their sailboat for breakfast and sailing. Wish you were here!

Finally, we have arrived at North Redington Beach. Accommodations leave much to be desired but I am too tired to care.

You Do Not Want to Miss Sunday’s Service!

11 Thursday Aug 2011

This Sunday, August 14, 2011, The Reverend Kevin Daniel, Director of Abounding Grace Ministries will be preaching in the absence of your pastor. If my information is correct, he has a two-part message. Knowing how long-winded he is, I can only hope that he will save the second half for the following Sunday! Remember that he is much more comfortable preaching to larger groups, so plan to come and bring a few people with you. He will really like that. Also, you might want to offer a few

The Man for the Hour!

“Amen’s” as he preaches, as he is used to people responding to his lectures. I will be enjoying breakfast with Howard & Starr Armstrong on their sailboat, even sailing on Tampa Bay with them, eating fresh seafood along the Gulf coast, walking the white sand beaches, and visiting Ft. Myers, Naples, and Marco Island. Not to worry, as I will wear my hat and sunglasses.

A True Servant

08 Monday Aug 2011

One of God's True Servants

I met Sue Wicker somewhere around 1985, and soon thereafter she and her husband started attending Benevolence, where I was pastor. It didn’t take me long to realize that God had sent us one of His true servants. Benevolence was an incredible church and lots was happening. Sue found her niche and was soon doing what she does best–serving the Body of Christ. She probably should have been an interior decorator, as she certainly has the gift, and I have watched her use it for many years. When we would host a retreat, Sue did the decorating, helped with the cooking, and served our guests, as one would expect to be served at a five star hotel. She has the uncanny ability to take virtually nothing and make something beautiful out of it. All it takes in one look around our facility at GCF and you can see her handiwork. She sees the need and meets it. No fuss, no fanfare, just servanthood.

Sue is kind–very kind, and she is patient–very, very patient. She is gentle, as gentle as a lamb. Sue never seems to notice when others mistreat her; she never holds a grudge, and, thus, she is quick to forgive. She is certainly not arrogant. She never brags–never. Sue never seeks to have her own way; instead, she defers to others.

An excellent wife, who can find? Obviously, Luke did!

A Sneak Preview of Tomorrow’s Message

06 Saturday Aug 2011

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation–having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory. For this reason I too, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which exists among you, and your love for all the saints, do not cease giving thanks for you, while making mention of you in my prayers; that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe (Ephesians 1:13-19a; NASB).

  1. Sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit to the praise of His glory
  2. Faith in Jesus and love for the saints
  3. Praying for the spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Jesus
  4. Praying that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know (1) the hope of His calling; (2) the riches of the glory of His inheritance; and (3) the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.

What an awesome passage!

Grace & peace,

Mac

At 1:00 this afternoon I will be in Warner Robins at McCullough Funeral Home speaking at the funeral service for Rob Mead, the brother of Mark Morgan, who is a dear friend of Roger & Barbara Miller. I never knew Rob, but I do know Someone who knows him perfectly and I am depending upon Him to speak through me today. Your prayers will be appreciated–both for me and this family.

Dudley & Debbie Bluhm

04 Thursday Aug 2011

The first time I ever laid eyes on Dudley Bluhm was the Wednesday night He showed up at one of our Bible studies. I really don’t think he had a clue as to what was in front of him. Actually, I should rephrase that and say, “I really don’t think he had a clue as to who was in front of him.” Yes, there were a few “bumpy” places on the road that led him to Debbie, but from what I can see it was more-than-worth it. Why, she swept him off his feet and had him dressed in proper wedding attire before he could bat an eye. I know because I was there and witnessed the entire ceremony. Everyone was a bit nervous because they met on “Kissmeonthelips.com” or whatever the name of the dating site was. Most had simply forgotten the fact that God arranges meetings such as this one however He pleases, without regard to the opinions of His children, which is a good thing! Anyway, Dudley & Debbie have been a part of this part of the Body of Christ for quite a few years now, and believe me, that have blessed each of us in far more ways that I can count. I think God even lost count! As everyone knows, Dudley & Debbie are gracious, hospitable, generous, loving, caring, kind, servants of Jesus. Everywhere they go, they exude His love. I am truly honored to be their pastor–highly honored, actually.

Yes! She really has been baptized!

Irrefutable Evidence

Yes, it is really true! A picture is worth a thousand words (or so someone said), so this should be irrefutable evidence that Leigh has been baptized, immersed, ducked, however you want to call it. As you can see Leigh was a bit younger when I baptized her (1994), but not to worry, as once is enough. We are standing in the baptismal pool in the sanctuary of the old Mabel White Baptist Church. Don’t you just love our white garments?! Anyway, I am glad Leigh is back among us, and I am very glad that she doesn’t need to be baptized again!

Ralph & Data Whitehead

02 Tuesday Aug 2011

This picture of the Whiteheads was taken in September of 2009. As you can see, they were enjoying themselves. When I became pastor of what was then Word Covenant Church (September 1995), now Grace Christian Fellowship, the Whiteheads were already members. In fact, Ralph was on the committee that officially called me. L" Faithful, loyal, friends!"ittle did I know concerning what was ahead, but I must say that the Whiteheads have been loyal supporters of this church and of me for many years. Data was in the catering business in a big way, even catering for the Governor of Georgia. Only God knows how many wedding cakes she baked and decorated (if He keeps up with things like that). To be sure, she was one busy, successful lady. Rest assured that this part of the Body of Christ greatly benefited from her cooking! Ralph was a contractor, Whitehead Brothers Construction Company, and he was in this business in a huge way. He built 17 of the churches on Macon, several bank buildings, many schools, the DOT building on Riverside Drive (his last major project), and only God knows how many houses (if He keeps up with that kind of thing). One of the main reasons we enjoy our present sanctuary is the manual labor and expertise he provided during its construction. Ralph & Data are two of the most generous people I have ever known, and that generosity has certainly been made evident during their years as members of GCF. Today I honor them, as I know you do, as well.
