Last Reminder

10 Saturday Nov 2012

Tomorrow, after our service, we will have a fish fry, compliments of Mike & Dianne Tomberlin. There will be plenty of food for everyone, and then some, so plan to attend. Come dressed in fish fry attire, whatever that is, and bring your appetite. Oh, yes, you might want to bring a light snack, as it will take a while to cook the fish.

Some can bring desserts, slaw, sweet pickle, and drinks.

Yes, I will be preaching, so come prepared for that, as well!

See you in the AM!!

Urgent Reminder!

03 Saturday Nov 2012

If you haven’t already done so, please VOTE this Tuesday! In my not-so-humble opinion, this election is very, very important. Yes, I am very aware that God is in control and in charge, every time and all the time. If I didn’t know that I would probably hide under the biggest rock I could find. That, however, should not be translated to mean that your vote is unimportant.

Okay? Good!

Also, remember to turn you clock BACK one hour tonight; otherwise, you will be early to church and that would be disastrous.

Gracefully,

Mac

Time will fall back to standard time again on Sunday, November 4, 2012, when daylight saving time ends. That would be THIS SUNDAY!

Please make a note of this; otherwise, you will be early to church, and I know that would cause some of you to panic.

Grace and peace!

Mac

We will have a fish fry, courtesy of Mike & Dianne Tomberlin, at GCF on Sunday, November 11 following our morning service. We will need some slaw, tea, drinks of various kinds, sweet pickle, desert, and grits.

Plan to bring a snack lunch, as it will take a while to get the fish cooked.

Please put this on your calendar and plan to attend. You will be glad you did!

It would be helpful, if you could let me know by this Sunday of your plans.

Blessings to you!

Below is a copy of the letter I am mailing to Greg, thanking him and his wife for a job-well-done today. I think they deserve to be encouraged.

October 14, 2012

Mr. Greg Hollingsworth
Grannie’s Country Buffet
1024 Indian Springs Drive
Forsyth, GA 31029

Dear Greg:

On behalf of all of us at Grace Christian Fellowship in Macon, I want to thank you and your wife for a job-well-done today. The food was plentiful and delicious, the service was excellent, and it was priced very reasonably. You did what you said you would do, you did it as you said you would do it, and you did it when you promised. That, in my opinion, is the trademark of a businessman who is determined to succeed the old fashioned way—by hard work and integrity.

I know that the restaurant business can be difficult under normal circumstances, and under the present circumstances, with the government trying to do everything it can to destroy small businesses, I am sure it is more than difficult. I am confident that there are times when you want to throw up your hands in despair and frustration.

That said I want to encourage you to stay the course, as you are continuing what our forefathers began generations ago—building small business. You are one of the reasons several people have jobs, and for that you are to be commended, not harassed to death by the bureaucrats in Washington, who seem to be determined to tax you out of business.

It is my sincere prayer that your business will thrive and that both you and your employees can enjoy the benefits of that success.

Thanks again for a job-well-done!

Sincerely,

Mac Goddard, Pastor

banana pudding, food

On Sunday, October 14, 2012 we will be having lunch at the home of Dudley & Debbie Bluhm. Lunch will be served at 1:00PM.

THE MENU: Roast beef, fried chicken, green beans, black-eyed peas, creamed corn, corn bread, banana pudding, sweet and un-sweet tea.

THE COST: $5.00 per person.

The meal will be catered, so all you have to do is show up and eat. We will need to carpool from the church, to avoid a parking problem at the Bluhm’s. Debbie said that anyone seen running over one of her flowers will be executed on the spot.

Please plan to let me know if you are attending, as I need a head count by this Sunday (10/07/12).

Thank you very much!

Your not-so-humble servant

An Urgent Prayer Matter from John Akacki

17 Monday Sep 2012

Early Sunday morning, Drew Akacki, John’s son, was in a terrible automobile accident. He is scheduled for surgery at the Med Center around 3:30 this afternoon to repair fractures in his hip and pelvis among other things.

Truthfully, Drew is more than blessed to be alive! His friend, who was driving Drew’s truck at the time of the accident, was dismissed from the hospital yesterday with minor injuries.

Remember, too, that on top of this tragedy, John recently lost his job, and jobs are not easy to come by for anyone. He and his fiance are planning on being married in November; however, this turn of events leaves them needing guidance from the Holy Spirit.

John needs our prayers, support, and love!

I will keep you posted, as I get more information.

Blessings!

Mac

A Teaser for Sunday’s Message

apostle paul, faith

The Apostle Paul tells us in no uncertain terms to consider the other person as being more important than ourselves. In this selfish culture, that is quite a directive. I wonder if he knew just how selfish we would become.

The truth is this: I seriously doubt that there is one individual who does this on a consistent basis. Oh, some might practice it when it is convenient or advantageous, but what about when it is inconvenient and seemingly detrimental. For example, how easy would it be if the other person had ruined your good name?

I wonder what would happen if the politicians of today put this into practice. Just wondering . . .

You think about this. Really!

Looking forward to seeing each of you on Sunday at 10:15 AM!
