I found this picture, after much research, of Moses on Mt. Nebo looking at the Promised Land from a distance! Wow! Now for the question: Since we know he did not enter the Promised Land, where is he now?
Question #2: What is the Promised Land?
Eagerly awaiting . . .
God told Moses he was going to die and he died in the land of Moab and God buried him. God said that Moses would be gathered unto his people even as Aaron his brother who died in Mt. Hor would be gathered unto his people (Deut. 32:48-52). So we would assume ‘his people’ would be the Israelites that already had passed. A very curious passage found in Jude vs.9 indicates that Michael the archangel contended with the devil and disputed about the body of Moses. Michael is usually associated the ‘the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people (Israel) (Dan. 12:1). The scripture does not give further detail regarding this dispute so we can only surmise that the body of Moses was very important for such a dispute to arise. When the resurrection of our Lord happened graves were opened and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, came out of the graves, went into the holy city, and appeared unto many (Matt. 27:50-53). In Ephesians 4:8-10 it says that when He (Jesus) ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, etc.. Who were those captives? Luke 16:22 indicates the death of the beggar who was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom but the rich man that died was buried. Abraham’s bosom would seem to be a place where those that died in faith went until the death and resurrection of our Lord. Hebrews 11:13 “These all died in faith, not having received the PROMISES, but having SEEN THEM afar off……” I personally believe the Promised Land to the nation of Israel is the land that God promised to them. To those of us that have been grafted in our Promised Land is the fact that we have been translated into the Kingdom of His Son (Col.1:13). We are called unto His Kingdom and glory (I Thess. 2:12). It is an everlasting kingdom (2 Pet. 1:11). We live in this kingdom now if He lives in us. What an amazing God.
